Building a kinder, stronger Liverpool starts with people like you: individuals who believe that even a single hour of time or a small gesture of kindness can change a life
Whether you’re looking to share your skills, raise vital funds, or simply have something you’re able to donate, there are countless ways to join our mission and help us transform our community from the inside out.
How you can get involved
Volunteer
When you volunteer your time for An Hour for Others you instantly become a part of our family. Whatever your skills are no matter how much time you have to give, we just appreciate your support. Volunteering is not just good for our community, but it’s also rewarding for those involved. And, it’s a fantastic way to meet new friends; friends that you will have for life. Our volunteers generally work within our five main areas of support - Home Refurbishments, Unity in the Community, Acts of Kindness, Children’s Groups and Health & Wellbeing. We have people with all sorts of amazing skills supporting us and we’re always on the look-out for more.
From litter-pickers to yoga teachers, plumbers to musicians, footballers to chefs; every little really does help! Scroll down to find out what our volunteers say about working with us.
Fundraise
There are so many ways you can fundraise for An Hour for Others. You can take part in one of our organised fundraising events that are held throughout the year or you can even come up with your own fundraising ideas.
From doing the Santa Dash to riding a zip wire or organising a cake bake, you’ll have plenty of fun whilst helping make your community a better place to live. And don’t forget to attend the An Hour for Other Gala, which is without a doubt one of the highlights of the Liverpool social calendar!

Random Acts of Kindness
Donating anything from football or theatre tickets to hotel stays and weekend breaks to offer unforgettable life experience.
Over the years so many people have offered a wide range of acts of kindness from football or concert tickets to hotel stays and weekend breaks. These are inspiring life experiences that will never be forgotten. All of this kindness has made it possible for us to help children coping with illness and bereavement, terminally ill people, lonely elderly residents, children who have been victims of bullying and much more.
For people in the local community whose lives may have hit hard or they’ve gone through traumatic times, this kindness has made a tangible difference and has also brought our community together.
Donate Money
Every penny counts to grassroots organisations like ours, we really appreciate your kind donations no matter how small. Every single penny you donate goes into helping our community at the very root.

Hear from our amazing Volunteers
"Volunteering and fundraising for AHFO is a great way of giving something back to our community. My wife Liz has run a full Marathon and I have run a half marathon to raise funds by way of sponsors, but you can help in other ways too. Myself, wife and our 2 daughters aged 7 & 10 got involved in a clean up project for a community centre which was a great experience and it was great to see the impact it had on our girls who love making a difference, its a good way of showing the kids how important it is to help others. My daughter's have also done bucket collections at a local football club. I would advise anyone to get involved with AHFO and make a difference, the feeling of helping others is like a buzz. you feel good about yourself as well as knowing you are doing your bit to help create a better society"
