As a Liverpool based GP for the NHS my passion for food and health is embodied in the famous quote “Let food be thy medicine”, since most of the diseases that impact our quality and years of life, are related to what we eat.
Compassionate cooking is part of preventative, lifestyle medicine as more and more evidence shows the healthful benefits of a plant-based diet.  Enriching your diet with these whole-food recipes is a great step towards preventing and reversing obesity, heart disease, strokes and type 2 diabetes, improving your odds on getting cancer and cancer recurrence as well as hopefully igniting a passion for home-cooking.
We all have responsibility for our health and health care professionals should lead by example so I will guide you through these recipes step by step. I’m excited to be sharing my culinary journey with you and hopefully you’ll enjoy these delicious, plant based recipes that are quick and easy to prepare, need no fancy ingredients or equipment and fuel a willingness to try something new and exciting.

My dream of writing a cook book finally came to fruition in November, 2019 when I published ‘Health on the Hob’, Plant Based Recipes by Dr Hayley Tait under my newly created publishing company, Healthful Heart Books. I regularly post recipes on my Instagram page Health_on_the_Hob and in the IGTV section you’ll find some of the many cookalongs I’ve done where there’s a lot of chat around the benefits for us, all animals, the climate, species diversity as well as cooking great food.
Recently I was on Ready Steady Cook, episode 10 showcasing whole food plant based ingredients with Chef Romy Gill (I won’t tell you who won)
Enjoy, Hayley x
