Andrew Maxwell chief executive of Amspec design and build solutions was inspired about An hour for others when he seen our video at the Pro Liverpool Awards back in March. He wanted to give something back and loved AHFO's concept of not just giving money but actually getting practically involved with his staff, resources and skills.

After an amazing first meeting with Andrew and the team we were blown away with the scale of what they wanted to do! It was agreed that Amspec would look to design, plan and build a full bedroom for youngsters in Liverpool who this would greatly benefit.  After 4 months of joint planning and a careful process of choosing it was agreed between AHFO's and Amspec  that this offer of support would help two young sisters who had lost their Mum when they were 11 and 9 years old after only 2 weeks of their Mum being diagnosed with cancer.

The process involved discussions, home visits and designing a space that matched specific needs of each girl where the girls who are now teenagers could have their own space. The room which they shared was only small and quite cluttered which was having a really negative effect.  It was a huge challenge for the Amspec team to meet the wishes of the girls,  somehow and like magic the expert designers and planners came up with an absolutely perfect bedroom which gave the sisters their very own space tailored to their needs and wishes.

There have been so many amazing people involved making this happen.  AHFO’s and the Ryan family would like to personally thank the Amspec team - owner Andrew Maxwell, Michelle Aidley (project manager), Mike Wignall (contracts manager) Abbie Purslow (interior designer), directors, joiners, plasterers, Hayvern Electrics, plumbers, decorators, manufacturing workshop as well as City of Liverpool for covering all the security needs whilst the house was being renovated over the 4 days.

The work involved has cost many thousands of pounds in material and labour for Amspec and we will be forever grateful they gave the girls a space that will help them with so many things in their lives whilst growing into young adults. The social value and impact of this Act of kindness will be amazing for years and years to come.

Thank you Andrew, Michelle and team for partnering up with AHFO's  and starting a new partnership that we look forward to building on in the coming months and years.
